Choose. You Always Have a Choice.

This gorgeous photo is from my friend Teri, who caught the sunrise from the road in Kansas. The majestic, fiery colors of this summer sunrise reminded me of choosing. Sometimes it's a hard choice, but I do choose to get up early (really early) and get myself to the gym every morning so that I can feel healthy and energetic. It is only by choosing that I'm able to get my butt out of my warm, comfy bed at o'dark thirty to exprience the magic of a sunrise (unless I stayed up all night, which is also a choice
).
Life is defined by the choices you make - what you choose to do this moment shapes what happens next. And what happens next is you Life, with a capital L. And contrary to popular belief, you can and do choose how you feel. You may not realize that you're choosing, though, because over time your emotional "choices" have become a function of automatic pilot. But you can turn off that autopilot function and consciously "choose" how you want to feel. Sure, it takes practice, but E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G in life is a choice - whether it's "chocolate or vanilla" or "take that job in Portugal or stay here" or how you choose to react to the person who just cut you off in traffic.
